After this dog n' pony show is over I'll be looking to deal an Outfielder or two for some starting pitching.

If you look past the fact that these are mostly mediocre players, there's some real value here:

Werth
Maybin
Snider
Delmon Young
Alfonso Soriano
Brantley

Get excited.

I wanted to post that last pick from the air, but my flight doesn't leave for another 45 minutes. Maybe my next pick...

If I'm reading the spreadsheet correctly, and I'm fairly sure I am, this leaves Amato with one pick left (26.10). I'm anxious to see how he talks someone into one final deal to move him up.

It also leaves him with 26 players before the end of the 23rd round, so thanks to everyone who had a hand in that happening.

thanks for the props. Its all about buying low and selling high. Trade away picks you dont want for as much as you can get, and trade up for picks with as little as you possibly are willing to give up. Capitalism baby.

As fun as it would be to try to improve my final pick, i'm content with the diarrhea Im gonna get in the 26th round. I could try to figure out a way to trade up to the 25th and get a turd, or maybe even a log, but when it comes down to it, shit is shit. Thank goodness i traded up to get my other picks out of the septic rounds.

Youk is staring lovingly into his eyes. Porcello is ready to destroy him. That is why I drafted Porcello and not Youklis.

Let this be a lesson to future us: Since we have started the 2 hour per pick rule, there have been countless jumps. This is making the draft go faster, but it is making it way confusing with all the jumps/trades/mispicks etc...

These last picks (while they probably won't make it into the everyday lineup [I'm looking at you AJ Perzinsky]) are tough to make as it is, but to pile on the fact that it is only Feb 9th, I feel like we could have ended this draft by spring training easily if we stuck to the 6 hour rule and just had some hour of powers (pick an hour and just try to bang out 10+ picks).

I just feel like speeding up the draft this much is so not worth it.

I agree with Posey. We just want to hurry up and wait? so we can rosterbate for how many weeks/months?

It makes sense to me to have had 2 hours for the first 15 or so picks because everyone pretty much knew who they were going to pick and then more time for the other half 16-30(garbage time). Right?

I personally would like the draft to be over sooner than later. It is a lot to keep track of and moderate for two months. By the time the Yahoo site comes up in mid Feb (which should be in the next few hours) we should be wrapping this thing up.
The simple solution to everyone's time issue, is think about what your next pick is gonna be BEFORE YOU ARE ON THE CLOCK. If everybody basically knew who they wanted to take (or at least have it narrowed down to a few names) then the need for a time limit would be virtually non existent. I cant tell you how many times Ive texted guys this year letting them know they are on the clock, and the answer is "thanks. let me take a look at it when i get home", or "ok. ill see who's out there when i get into work", etc. When you're pick is approaching, you should be beginning to think about who you want.

We are approaching the 500th pick in the draft. I don't think people need 6 hours to deliberate which player to take at this point. The stakes are much less than in the early rounds, so the damage from being passed is significantly less. An example is how Mendoza opted to wait and figure out who really wanted with his picks rather than rush a pick. If this were the 5th round he would have likely stopped everything to be sure to not get passed. Now, its not as big of a deal. He got passed, he posted picks when he was ready, and he likely got the guys he wanted. There's no need to wait around for 6 hours for a manager in this scenario. To do so, would just hold everyone up.

I'm not looking forward to sitting in front of my computer for hours punching all of these picks in when this thing is done. But I'm going to. Id much rather at this point focus on my main keeper league, and stop worrying about things like when pick 490 is going to be posted and reading all of the annoying banter and complaints from everyone in this league over virtually everything, and looking at everyone's stupid pictures, etc. etc. etc. I'm not looking forward to trying to collect money from the 5-10 managers who inevitably wont pay their league fee on time. But someone has got to. I really enjoy this Winter league in December and January, but when it gets past 6 weeks, it is time to start wrapping things up. If someone wants to organize everything next year, and take on all of the aforementioned, then as far as I'm concerned we could keep it at 6 hours per pick the whole time. But just know that it wont be a ton o fun for whoever takes on this role and they'll likely post a rant similar to this one by mid February also.

I don't think it's a matter of knowing who you are going to pick. I've known who I am going to pick for quite some time before my pick gets to me, it's a matter of making those picks in time. I have a job that doesn't allow me access to the internet readily. I do not have a smart phone, so I can't just sit and check it all the time. But, say for example I want Rick Porcello, but since we are in this 2 hour window I can't make it home in time, or I can't get a hold of a friend to make a pick (or they are just as busy as I am), I get passed and Porcello is now taken. I'm kind of bummed because I wanted him. On paper, I think the 2 hour thing is great, but now seeing it practiced, tons of guys are getting jumped.

This is no way saying that you (Amato) are not doing a good job or making correct choices for the league. I am so happy we have someone so dedicated to the league and able to put this much time into it. I know that with my work schedule, if I tried putting in half the time you have, the league would have been in flaming ruins, Donati (swisherfan) would be huddled up in the corner crying, cats and dogs living together....etc... So kudos to you!

Well, glad we all worked that out.

The person doing the heavy lifting makes the rules and the rest of us sheep work around it, would be my suggestion.

That aside, is "Chisenhall ur Faces" too graphic a name for this league?

After seeing it in print I'll go with a big yes on that one.

Help me out here. I'm a bit confused. How does PFOP have no time to hop on the Internet for the five seconds it takes to make a pick but has time to script a diatribe complaining about not having enough time. Not a knock, just a question. Can I suggest that if neither you nor your friends can post your pick within the "tight" two hour window, just text it to Amato or one of the several other league members who never seem to have a problem getting their pick in on time. Just a thought

On the contrary. If you notice, I've never been skipped. I have been fortunate enough to have friends to make my pick, or I have been able to "hop on" the internet to make my picks. I am just attempting to speak on everyone's behalf. I guess if everyone is cool being skipped, then just forget it.
