Time to Pay the money

The payment website is set up.
Please go to:

https://www.leaguesafe.com/join/994034/ ... -obsession

To pay your $25 dollar league fee. You have until April 1st, afterwhich a 10 dollar late fee will be incurred. (which goes into the pool).

Brandon Mowery will be paid by me as part of his payout from last years Baseball Obsession prize pool.
Jeff Ashton will be paid for by me also as repayment for the Vegas bet he placed for me. (Yankees to win World Series at 6.5 to 1, giddyup!)

Please take a moment to set up your payment now. Last year it was very challenging to try and recoup fees, and it would be nice if everyone used the site and the site will send the winnings to the winners the day after the season ends.

Why isn't credit card a payment option? Does it cost extra?

I assume because cc companies chart vendors to use their service? The site is a free service, so presumably the only money they are making is from ads and perhaps interest on the money they are collecting. Oh wait, that's totally it. E checks go straight into their account, where they earn interest on the money whil they hold it. Our league is 500 dollars total, so they're probably only making a buck or two off of us in interest, but if you multiply that by every league they get to sign up, there's the potential for nice profit, provided the overhead is low.

That is most likely the reason, but it looks like there is an option. I just wonder if they charge for that.

I bet they aren't just letting the money sit in a 1% bank account. It's a great way to raise capital for another business. They only promise the original amount back.

Amato et al,

Having worked with credit card vendors extensively I would urge us all to avoid this site, I don't see any of the top security vendors associated with this site anywhere, as a matter of fact I don't see any of the standard secured vendors. Normally a site like this has a vendor that actually accepts there money. Authorize.net, Paypal, cybersource, etc. Virtually every time you purchase something online that site uses one of 4 or 5 of these guys. I don't see this at all on this site and don't feel particularly comfortable giving checking account numbers to it.

Just a suggestion but we may want to find a different vendor.

Ok. Another option would be for everyone to send me a personal check by March 15. Anyone who is more than 2 weeks late (April 1st) wold have their roster frozen until payment was received.

thoughts?

This is good, and you could provide everyone your paypal account as an option, assuming you have a paypal account.

I am going to keep this league pass open as an option for anyone that wants to use it (Dan Buxton has already paid through it). If others want to send me a check, you can do by sending it to:

Amato Recine
632 Sydney Lane
Ventura, CA 93003

When i set the league pass thing up, I didn't include credit cards as one of the options because they charge 3 percent if you decided to use ther site then. I have made the change to enable CCs, in case anybody wants to pay by credit card. From this point forward, anyone who uses the league pass site will pay 26 bucks to cover that fee. ( or you can send me a check instead for free) .You can also Paypal me the league fee as well, although I believe they charge a 3-5 percent fee also...if they do, send me 26 to cover that fee.

As long as you pay in some way, it's all good.

As I always tell my ex-wife... THE CHECK IS IN THE MAIL.

Just kidding.

I would never send her money.

But you should have it in a couple of days.
