False. It's neither. It's fantasy baseball, and it's supposed to be fun...

... and for that reason, I'm more or less with Josh on this one. The trades get under my skin, but I'm not going to rain on anyone's parade for making them. To each, their own. What I will say is this: if you've made so many trades that you can't keep your picks straight, maybe you should chill out for a little bit, because I'm sure that the rest of the league is struggling to keep up just as much - and that's affecting everyone's draft experience.

The draft board is a fucking mess with edited posts and banter, and it really pisses me off to get an email alert that someone has posted in the draft forum only to find it's more trade-related bullshit.
It's clear Amato and I are on the same page. What I'm not not clear about is how our trades lead to mass confusion and, in turn, less fun for anyone else? Your reasoning was because it made the board challenging to follow. And Amato's retort was on the money. If you are not dealing, then draft when your spot comes up. And if you want to know how far off that pick might be, go to the constantly updated spreadsheets that have been provided. So now that this concern has been resolved- exactly what else about what I do with my picks affects the amount of joy you get out of this thing?

There was confusion on this one single transaction. Human error led to two minor oversights which were quickly corrected and resolved well before the next pick was posted. Every other transaction has been painlessly communicated, and seamlessly integrated into our draft. Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill.

This is not the first time we have had this debate on this draft board, and I'm sure it won't be the last. I enjoy the trades, and I certainly can explain why. I traded baseball cards as a kid. A lot. It was addictive and I was good at it. I get to channel a little of that into this activity. And like Amato said, it certainly provides a more involved experience if you are up at midnight hammering which picks in the 22nd round that you want to swap. Shamelessly- yes, we should probably being doing something else, like sleeping. But we prefer to deal.

I'll drop a pick mid vow if I needs to. Wives come and go, drafting a strong fantasy baseball bench echoes in eternity. God help me if Christine ever reads this.

Wow, am I not the only Mariners fan in this league? That's surprisingly early for Iwakuma. I thought I could wait like 4 more rounds before reaching on him. There's a reason the Mariners got him so cheap, I think. Read this.

When I had posted it, the times I had said you had been lapped. You pull it together.

No, you had it wrong, Posey. S-Man got lapped (pick 13.3), and Polanco jumped in and picked (pick 13.4) and Buxton followed suit (pick 13.5). Then a couple hours later S-Man showed up and made his pick.

So at this point S-Man made the most recent pick (13.3), but RoidRager was on the clock (pick 13.6) and 6:50 later finally showed up to take Jonny Venters. Shabazbulldogs was on the clock at the six hour mark.

I'm 99% sure I got this right, but shit's getting confusing. C'mon people, try to make your picks in less than 6 hours; it gets messy when people get lapped.

Ah, that must have been it. Sorry for the confusion. I knew someone was getting lapped.

Still though, PHH, I would love to invest in a "big boy phone" but I prefer my cheaper phone. Doesn't mean you have to get bent out of shape.

Oh, I'm not bent out of shape. Apologies if that hurt your feelings....was just playing around with you. Thought the whole back-and-forth thing was your MO. That and I may or may not have been drinking. Besides, the old brick phones get the best reception anyway.

Yes, I jumped ahead in the interests of moving it along.

And to be fair, I've taken longer with a lot of my picks than I should have. So, I'm working on that.

In all honesty, when your primary source of offense is going to come in June, a person can be edgy. ;-)

I like this pick a lot. Not a very sexy pick, but a pretty solid bet for a bounceback, and at pick #267, you can't argue the value. He was a 5th rounder last year.

I don't dislike the Danks pick, but lets just say I am really happy freeze went with Danks over Baker. Looking at last years numbers, obviously I like Bakers numbers better;

2011
2011 STATS AGE IP W ERA K WHIP K9
Danks 27 170.1 8 4.33 135 1.339 7.13
Baker 30 134.2 8 3.14 123 1.173 8.22

The two things Danks definitely has on his side are a few years, not that Baker is 'old' by any stretch of the imagination, but coupled with Bakers inability to stay healthy in recent years definitely becomes the equalizer in the comparison.

2008-11 IP W ERA K WHIP K9
Danks 778.2 48 3.77 605 1.262 6.99
Baker 677.1 46 3.92 574 1.222 7.63

Obviously over the past 4 seasons they have been pretty much the same player, but that is ultimately what scared me off the most from Danks. Its almost like something has changed since all of a sudden he is posting a higher than 1.3 whip. I definitely hope Danks does in fact have a bounce back year, and he very well may. But I still like getting Baker with the later pick. We'll have to wait and see who ended up getting the better end however.

Here's a sign this might not be my year. After talking $h/t to Posey the Karma hitman struck quickly.

V-Mart could miss season because of ACL tear
Tigers catcher expected to need surgery to repair injury

DETROIT -- Tigers catcher Victor Martinez could miss the season because of a torn ACL in his left knee, sustained last week while he was conditioning.

An MRI taken at the Watson Clinic in Lakeland, Fla., on Monday revealed the ACL tear. Martinez will be re-evaluated by Dr. Richard Stedman next week and surgery to repair the tear is anticipated. Martinez will most likely be lost for the 2012 season if surgery is required.

Martinez hit .330 with 40 doubles, 12 home runs and 103 RBIs in 145 games with the Tigers last season.
