Sat Feb 6= Case Study of why 2 hour rule is needed

Post by YankeeManiac »

we are approaching the end of the 9th hour of the draft day, and there have been only two picks all day. Its a weekend day. There is no reason for us to be sitting around waiting for disinterested owners to make their picks. Nor should we protect them by waiting. If the 2 hour time limit were in effect, we probably would have gotten ten picks done by now.

This syndrome is only get worse as the player pool thins out. Think about how bad it will be by rounds 28 and 29! Those of you who support keeping things as is have stated that there are still a number of guys that you are interested in drafting. Im in the same boat, but unfortunately there will be an increasing number of managers who aren't. If they want to be indifferent, they should be passed by people like us who care. If they want to check once a day and make their picks then, that can be their choice. The rest of us who still care will be able to pick sooner and possibly get more of the guys that we are still interested in.

I will. It also would be helpful for managers who have no interest or desire to pick right away to say so, that way we dont have to wait around for their picks not to be posted.

I propose that if there are managers who know they wont be able to post, or have lost the interest in posting their picks right away to let the league know, and we will pass their pick up. Those managers will be free to login and make their selections at their leisure without holding things up.

I will create a thread entiltled "PASS ME". As a courtesy, please reply to this thread at the point in the draft where you no longer want us to wait for you to make your pick. Upon posting to this thread, we will pass you up when your turns come up and you can make your selection at your leisure.

Also, if you only want us to pass you up between certain times, for a set amount of time (eg tonight or this weekend) because you know you wont be able to get to a PC or dont feel like thinking about making a selection because of more important, real-world activities, just specify the time frame that you will be away. This will serve as an equivalent to an AWAY message, and during this designated time frame we will know not wait for your selection.

I was part of the reason that the picks ran so long on Saturday, and I apologize. Went drinking on Friday night and slept until noon, something I'm pretty sure I haven't done since college. (Sleeping until noon, not the drinking part.)

I assure you I'm not in the "disinterested" camp. "Drunk" camp, definitely.

What's the big deal with Saturdays having to be a heavy draft day. I'd say Sat-Sun are amongst my lowest around the computer days and most likely to be pushing the limits of draft time . I can't be the only one that uses their weekends to get away from the glow of an LCD.
