One of those guys is the odd man out.

Agreed. I think the rotation goes like this:

Cahill
Gio
With Braden and Mazzarro in long relief or Sacramento.

Re: Discuss the draft
Could have sworn we were in a month long, 'baseball obsession', laid back winter draft. All of a sudden there is a premium on time limits, and draft day trades. Seems contradictory.

Re: Discuss the draft
I am the unofficial "Trader Jack" of this board, and unapologetically so. The wheeling and dealing aspect of this draft has made the past 18 rounds significantly more fun for me, which ultimately is why we are doing this thing in the first place, right? Being that I'm one of the quickest, and proactive drafters on this board, I take offense to the suggestion that I might somehow being slowing this thing down. It's certainly not the case from my perspective. As far as the spreadsheet goes, I have a hard time believing that adding a trade to the sheet is such an off-putting activity. I'd be happy to volunteer my services as the spreadsheet organizer for the remainder of this draft, or next year's if that's any consolation.

I'm not talking about THE spreadsheet. I'm talking about MY spreadsheet, and I was joking. Honestly though, it gives me a headache to see these trades being thrown around, especially when they seem so trivial. Not trying to spoil anybody's fun, but it's coming across as excessive.Scrantonicity wrote:As far as the spreadsheet goes, I have a hard time believing that adding a trade to the sheet is such an off-putting activity. I think this is a stupid suggestion. These moves shouldn't count against the limit. As a matter of fact, I was under the impression that trades during the regular season wouldn't be factored into the 20, just FA pickups. Am I incorrect?Scrantonicity wrote:As far as the suggestion that draft trades count towards overall activity in-season- Eat me! That's bullshit, and you know it.

I appreciate this response. I'll use my last pick, Nick Masset, as an example. I feel quite confident that he was not going to last 20 picks with the way RPs are flying off the board. He's the #2 guy in Cincy (behind a very average Cordero IMHO) and is a positive 3 category player with K's, ERA and WHIP. Quite honestly, he was the number one player on my board. And yes, I think I might have to move this post to "toot your own horn" because I'm loving that pick

EDIT: I just reread the "question" about whether or not the trades should be counted. If it was an honest question, and not an implied suggestion masking itself as a question, then I apologize for the last point in my rant.

Trades do not qualify as "transactions" in the yahoo format.

Consider me 10 pounds lighter (I wish). And please accept my apology- thought for sure you were trying to fire me up, as I was getting a hail storm of critique for my trading ways, and assumed that you were suggesting that we account for the trades as transactions. The timeliness of the question certainly put me on-guard- and for that I apologize again.Pocket full of Posey wrote:
