Off topic: hard to believe the Red Sox are going into the year with their lineup being essentially the same as last year, only without Bay.
I've been hearing a lot of Adrian Gonzalez to the Red Sox talk on the San Diego sportstalk radio- I don't think the Red Sox are done with their roster yet...
I read this blog post a couple days ago. It really does make sense to keep him a Padre until the trade deadline gets closer and all the 1b free agents sign.

At that point, he'll probably join the Red Sox and become an absolute monster.
Interesting theory. Also, getting Gonzalez would create a logjam at 1b, as he would immediately be the everyday player there. Martinez is arguably not the everyday catcher anymore and Ortiz is still at DH. Youk can move to 3rd but there's still Lowell eating up payroll over there.
That head tho

I think I've got the SAVES category locked up. In a 20 team league 80 saves should be good.

Lind was the best pick of the draft so far! I was hoping he was going to fall to me and was very disappointed you jumped in front to snag him. Certainly flusters my plans a little bit. If you're up for trading him let me know.

I was looking at Carlos Pena for later and started thinking about his below average AVG... in a 20-teamer, how much is it really going to hurt you? Aren't most of us going to end up with at least one guy that kills us in AVG just based on the depth of the league?

Granted, Wolfpack now has two guys like that, but at least he may potentially be getting 80 HRs out of them.

Isn't there some special rule that says if I get more then double the home run's of the next leading fantasy owner in 5x5 I "shoot the moon" and win the league? If not, then you're right and I got no plan...

Pena was still pretty amazing at 5.11 though. Look for The Wolfpack to value .avg highly in future picks. Jay Bruce is off my radar...

I noticed Freeze has Gordon Beckham in as his SS. Does he know something I don't?

His situational stats show that he played every game at 3rd base. (Though his position in his profile says SS, I expect that to change.)

Yahoo depth charts have him at 2b:

Rotoworld has him at 3rd.

I only bring it up because if I thought I could play him at SS, I would have taken him, but I don't.

Just an FYI: Beckham will not be eligible at SS (where you have him penciled in), at least to begin the season. Yahoo's rules are 10 games played or 5 games started at the position during the previous season.

Even as a 3B, he's still a very solid pick, though.

He will be starting at 2nd for the 2010 season so he should qualify there quickly.

From the draft thread...
YankeeManiac wrote: Dont forget:

-This year you will have 6 hours to make your selection (between the hours of 8am and 8pm) After 6 hours, the next guy in line is able to jump in front of you. If someone jumps you, you may still make a pick, you just cant pick the player(s) that were picked during your tardiness. This should keep the pace going, and avoid some of the all day gaps that we experienced last year, especially in the last few rounds. For picks made after 8pm, the next guy in line will start on the clock at 8am.(which means he must pick before 2pm or else he gets passed).

...

PLAY BALL!
I had to re-read this after waiting a whopping 14 hours and counting for Tonies.Gin to make his picks before I realized that we're doing things differently than how we did them last year. From what I remember last year:

- 6 hour limit on picks made between 8a and 8p.
- 12 hour limit on picks made outside of 8a and 8p.

Meaning: If a pick is made at 8:01pm, you have until 8:01am. If a pick is made at 7:59p you have until 1:59a.

I vote to get rid of the "6-hour clock reset at 8am" rule. It's killing the great momentum we've had.

Can we go with a 12-hour limit on picks outside of 8a-8p?

This is also a struggle because we are all in different time zones. So what I consider 8AM is much different than somebody on the east coast and I'd hate to think my clock starts at 5AM my time while I'm asleep.

Sorry, I assumed that PST went without saying, as that has been the way the rule has worked all along.
